da wazamba: Manchester United’s hosting of West Ham this weekend will reunite old acquaintances once again with the club’s sharing a comprehensive history of exchanging players.
da 888casino: The Red Devils host the Hammers this Sunday with both teams keen to put a halt to their difficult starts to the season. It may not remain one of the key games regarding the title race, but for fans, this is a fixture that is earmarked as crucial.
Jose Mourinho cannot be happy with his side’s progression this campaign, with the Red Devils recording just one home victory since August in the Premier League.
Indeed, the Irons’ form has been below par, too. Slaven Bilic’s team have failed to keep a clean-sheet since September and a victory is not likely for the Hammers.
With the fixture looming large, it’s time to look back on superstars who have represented both historical clubs…
Carlos Tevez
The mid-2000s witnessed Manchester United sign some South American players and Carlos Tevez was undeniably the most successful.
Tevez moved to Man United from West Ham in August 2007 and was a key member of Sir Alex Ferguson’s Premier League and Champions League winning team the following season.
Previously, Tevez was a fundamental factor in the Hammers’ relegation survival during the 2006/2007 campaign, and his last goal for West Ham came at Old Trafford to secure the Irons’ status as a Premier League club.
Tevez’s time in Salford ended bitterly when he joined near-neighbours Manchester City in 2009.
Ravel Morrison
In a Man United youth team that boasted quality young talents such as Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard, Morrison was classified as the prized asset.
The young midfielder was known for his dynamism and ability to dribble with the ball in tight situations. However, Sir Alex wouldn’t allow Morrison to progress at United and felt his career would be best suited elsewhere.
Even though his time in east London was brief, he provided some flashes of brilliance.
Paul Ince
In 1990, rumours of Paul Ince’s move to Old Trafford were widespread following the Hammers’ relegation to the Second Division.
‘Incey’ went from hero to zero in the eyes of West Ham fans by being pictured in a Manchester United shirt before the deal between the two clubs was done. Apparently, the photo was taken before going on holiday during the summer following some advice from his agent.
Even now, Ince’s name is still not welcome in east London as the ‘Guvnor’ went on to claim three Premier League titles during his time in Manchester.
Lou Macari
The Scottish midfielder spent eleven years at Old Trafford between 1973 and 1984. Macari’s name is still fondly remembered in Salford after he made more than 400 appearances – clocking up 97 goals from midfield positions.
After his impressive playing career, Macari opted for management and a move to West Ham occurred in 1989 following the dismissal of John Lyall as manager. Macari was the first manager appointed at Upton Park never to have worked for the club in a previous capacity.
The love affair lasted only six months, and he departed the club in February 1990.
Stuart Pearson
Hull forward Stuart Pearson was bought by Manchester United following their relegated to the Second Division in 1974.
Pearson was instrumental in getting the club promoted back at the first attempt and has since gone under the radar of United folklore despite his impressive displays.
The forward’s most iconic moment came when he scored in the 1977 FA Cup final against bitter rivals Liverpool. Two years later, he moved south to Upton Park, but he could not recapture the form once seen at Old Trafford.
