da 888: Aaron Ramsey’s move to Juventus in the summer was finally confirmed this week with the Welshman penning a four-year deal.
da realbet: The Welshman is Arsenal’s longest serving player but the two parties failed to come to terms on a new contract over the summer. Ramsey was courted by many of Europe’s top sides but it was the Italian champions who won the race for his signature. The 28-year-old will become the highest paid British player in history, reportedly (as per David Ornstein) taking home £400,000-per-week when his move becomes official in the summer.
Ramsey remains a polarising figure at the Emirates with plenty of fans disappointed to see him depart the club. Unai Emery is set to be handed a small budget in the summer transfer window and may have to offload some fringe players to bolster his finances. Signing a replacement for Ramsey should be a priority for the Spaniard.
One man the Gunners could target is Fiorentina maestro – Jordan Veretout. Valued at £22.5m by Transfermarkt, the former Aston Villa man has proven to be a revelation since moving to the Serie A back in the summer of 2017. The Frenchman has taken his game to the next level since leaving the Villans and deserves another chance to showcase his talents in England.
The 25-year-old is extremely well-rounded and would be a fantastic replacement for Ramsey in the engine room. Veretout has helped his side’s cause with three goals and two assists this season – he has been the creative hub for his team, averaging an impressive 2.4 key passes per game. The former France U21 international doesn’t neglect his defensive duties either, winning 2.2 tackles per game as well as averaging 1.6 interceptions (WhoScored).
Approaching the prime of his career, Veretout would be an excellent addition to the Gunners squad.
