da mrbet: According to The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Mourinho has performed a complete U-turn on Ryan Sessegnon following an update on Ben Davies.
What’s the word, then?
Well, The Sun says that the Portuguese manager was looking to send the former Fulham youngster out on loan in the second half of the season to give him more first-team minutes.
However, the report says that the 56-year-old has been forced to reconsider that decision after Davies suffered ankle ligament damage in the 3-2 win against West Ham United last weekend.
The Sun say the Wales international faces an ‘extended period’ on the sidelines with the club website confirming he is undergoing the early stages of rehabilitation, leaving Danny Rose and Sessegnon to fight it out for the left-back spot.
Big boost for Ryan
It has been hugely frustrating for the 19-year-old following his summer move from the Cottagers, with injuries restricting him to just two appearances for the first team – short substitute cameos against Red Star Belgrade and Everton.
He is yet to get his first minutes under the leadership of Jose Mourinho, but Davies’ setback looks to have given him the perfect opportunity to makes some inroads and prove a point to his boss that he is ready to make an impact for Spurs now.
He may even face an easier task to make the spot his own in the coming weeks, with Rose once again failing to impress from a defensive point of view during the 4-2 Champions League defeat against Olympiacos in midweek – he came under criticism from the club’s supporters as a result.
Sessegnon may have just got his big chance, and he can’t afford to waste it.
